Q: How do I find the library?
A: We have three library facilities in the County. Hours & Locations are listed on the left side of this page, Click on the name of the library to get a Google map.
Q: How do I get a library card?
A: You must live in the County, own property in the County or work in the County for at least 30 days and be able to show proof of that with a Colorado license or ID with current County address, car registration, voter registration, lease agreement, pay stub from employer or utility bill with County address and show an ID to get a card. If you have a valid library card from another Colorado library, we will issue you a Summit County card via the Colorado Library Card program.
Q: Can I use the library if I don’t have any of the above?
A: Yes, anyone may use the library while they are visiting or have just moved here. We have both a paperback and DVD/Video exchange for people to use or you can get a GUEST Library Card. A GUEST card costs $20 non-refundable fee, is good for 1 year and allows you to check out 3 items. You can also use the free Wi-Fi Internet service for up to 5 hours or sign up to use our 10 minute and 1 hour Internet computers at all 3 libraries. You’re only charge is $.25 per page for printouts
Q: How do I access my library card record?
A: Click on the “My Library Account” button above or on the home page, type in your name and the barcode from your library card. From within your account, you can add holds, renew items, add to your preferred searches, and review your reading history.
Q: How do I reserve an item that is checked out or available at another library?
A: To reserve an item or place a hold, go to the "Search for Books” button on the left of this page, type in your search in the blank box, if you get a list of items, click on the 1 you are interested in, then click on the “Request” button at top of page, and fill in the items requested on the form (your name, library card number and choose a pickup location).
Q: How to I renew items checked out on my card?
A: To renew items, click on “My Library Account” above and enter the requested information. Once in your record click on “Items currently checked out”. To renew all items, click on the “Renew All” button. If you only wish to renew certain items, click on the box (es) preceding the item(s) in the list, and then click on “Renew Selected Items”. If an item can not be renewed, it will say on “HOLD” in red next to the due date of the item.
Q: How do I keep a history of the items I’ve read?
A: To keep a history of the items you have read, click on the “My Library Account” button above and enter the required information. Then click on “Start recording My Reading History”. From that point on every item you check out will be recorded and you can view the information in your record.
