The Friends of the Library meet the second Wednesday of each month (except book sale months) at 5:30 pm in the Buffalo Mountain Room at the County Commons building in Frisco. We discuss fundraising events, programs and various opportunities to support our library. Contact the Friends president, Janet for more information. Everyone is welcome!

The Friends of the Library hosts three large book sales per year in April, August and December in the Buffalo Mountain and Mt. Royal Rooms at the County Commons building in Frisco. All three libraries have ongoing book sales with all funds going to the Friends of the Library.

The Friends is a nonprofit all-volunteer group originally organized in Summit County in 1960 and incorporated in 1977. The status of 501(c)3 was obtained in October 1978.

Mission Statement

Through advocacy, funding, and volunteer support, The Friends assists the Summit County Libraries in fulfilling its mission of giving everyone in our community a welcoming environment and opportunities to search, connect, and enjoy lifelong learning.

The Friends sponsor programs throughout the year, including special children's events, visiting authors, contests and a travel slideshow series in the winter. The Friends also fund the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, Teen Summer Reading Program and Adult Programs at all three library locations.

Contact any library location for details on any of these programs or check our Upcoming Events.

Volunteer

Volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated. We have on site volunteer opportunities and numerous times available. For more info email Janet.

All book sales raise funds to support the many programs and projects the Friends of the Library sponsors on behalf of the community and the Summit County Library.

Teachers can show their teacher ID to receive free books from the Friends ongoing book sales.

Please do not bring old textbooks, old reference books, or Reader's Digest Condensed Books. After removing the covers, these may be recycled with paper. Learn more on our material donations page. Starting Monday October 19, the Friends of the Library will be accepting donations Monday-Friday at the Main Library in Frisco and the South Branch in Breckenridge.  Donations at North Branch in Silverthorne will only be accepted on Thursdays.
