Summit Reads 2018

Each spring, the Summit County Library, The Next Page Bookstore, the Rotary Club of Summit County and Colorado Mountain College sponsor a county-wide reading experience. The project provides an opportunity for the Summit County community and students to read a book of local relevance that stimulates dialogue related to the book’s theme.

In addition to forums for discussion, we host panels and a book discussion related to the subject. The “Summit Reads” project brings together the entire community for the purpose of understanding topics of interest to its residents.

You can purchase a copy of 'Smokejumper' at all three library locations in Frisco, Breckenridge and Silverthorne for $10.00 or at the Next Page Bookstore in Frisco. You are also welcome to order the book through our library catalog using a Summit County Library card.

The Summit County Libraries are excited to announce that the 8th annual Summit Reads Community Project is back this spring, with a new book, new events and new speakers. The book chosen by the Summit Reads planning committee is “Smoke Jumper,” by Jason Ramos and Julian Smith. This memoir of veteran smokejumper Jason Ramos offers an inside look the lives of airborne firefighters who parachute into remote areas to battle nature's dangerous fires.
