November South Branch Library Displays
We’ve been getting into the holiday spirit in many ways this fall at the South Branch.
Upstairs, we have a display for Movember, also known as No-Shave November. Many people know Movember only as a time for men to rock a funky mustache, but what’s the story behind it?
According to the Movember website, Movember is a movement that stands for “Tackling prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention [for men].” By growing a unique moustache, supporters are able to start a conversation, raise awareness, and fundraise to help these causes.
Our display “Moust-ache you to check these books out.”
On the reading mezzanine, you can check out these stunning views…
And right below, we have a full Thanksgiving display. Titles on these shelves focus on gratitude, giving thanks, and some delectable cookbooks to help you whip up your next Thanksgiving classic dish (green bean casserole 2.0, anyone?).
For our youngest , we’ve decked out the E-room with a Dinovember theme! You can read more about our inspiration here.
Highlights of our Dinovember theme include a Dinosaur Hunt, where we see if the kiddos can find all 20 dinos hidden around the E-room (they sure are tricky!).
We’ve also got dinosaur coloring sheets, so our kids can be Dino Decorators, and have their unique art hung on the “Our Dino Community” wall in the E-room. More dinos are being added daily, and yes, our staff is getting in on the coloring fun, too.
And of course, since this is a library, we’ve got a great selection of dinosaur books available for checkout!
Finally, in our hallway is our gratitude tree. Patrons are encouraged to add their own leaves of gratitude and remember all the things we have to be thankful for this season.
