One Book 4 Colorado: The Little Red Fort
06/24/20
The Summit County Library is participating in the One Book 4 Colorado program at all three locations in Summit County. One Book 4 Colorado is a collaboration between many organizations including the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado State Library. It was created on the basis that reading with preschoolers every day helps get kids ready to learn to read in kindergarten, and getting free books into homes makes that easier.
This year’s book selection is “The Red Fort [El fuertecito rojo] ” by Brenda Maier and the 4-year-old in your family can pick up a free copy curbside in Frisco at the Main Library, in Silverthorne at the North Branch, and in Breckenridge at the South Branch.
Each year, One Book 4 Colorado gives away 75,000 copies of the selected book to all 4-year-olds in the state, and it's available in English or Spanish.
Books are being distributed at public and military libraries across the state and participating Denver preschool programs including all three branches of the Summit County Library. Visit onebook4colorado.org for information about events, reading tips, information on early literacy and more.
