We are "All Together Now" for the 2023 Summer Reading Program!
06/07/22
With reading challenges, outdoor programs, and prizes for book lovers of all ages, we hope you will join us in celebrating the joy of reading.
Summit County Library has been putting on a Summer Reading program for over 30 years to combat summer learning loss (AKA the “summer slide”), develop a love of reading in children, and help struggling readers catch up before the next school year. But summer reading isn’t just for kids anymore and it's not just about books, either!
Our theme this year, All Together Now, invites you to explore together in our community with activities, programs, and all kinds of books. By joining the fun, you’ll earn prizes, and connect with others through the power of stories.
How to track your reading? Beanstack!
Summit County Library encourages readers to register (Starting May 29) and track their reading using our free app Beanstack; accessible on your mobile device or at summitcountylibraries.beanstack.org. Parents (or the library card holder) will be the account creator who will sign up the whole family as 'readers.' New this year upon registering: Badge Books for K-5th. Allows kids to follow along and track their reading in a paper format.
Starting Monday, June 5, pre-schoolers, elementary age students, teens and adults will be able to start logging their reading hours on the Summit County Library Beanstack website or app to earn virtual badges. (Being read-to or listening to audiobooks count!)
Every 5 hours children or 8 hours teens read, Beanstack will notify the reader that they have earned a free book prize! The more students read, the better their chances of winning gift cards and entries into grand prize drawings for local experiences such as Frisco Adventure Park tubing, entries to the A-Basin Aerial Adventure Park and more. A sincere thank you to the Summit County community for their support and generous donations to Summer Reading program this year!
