Teen Haiku Poetry Contest
In June 2021, the Summit County Library held a Haiku writing contest for teens. The subject was “a haiku about an animal, or written from the perspective of an animal” and our winners wrote some remarkable poems!
Our 1st place winner was June Baniewicz. Here is her poem:
Bells shimmering with color
Moon jellyfish dance
Second place went to Cora Jackson.
Intrude-and pierce the still
Each step is a symphony,
The solemn beast turns.
We had a tie for 3rd place!
Natalie McGrath also wrote a poem about a moose.
Strong enough to hold its ground
Gentle to its land
Zach Dykstra wrote his poem from a Marmot’s perspective.
