Kanopy Video Streaming
07/19/22
We are pleased to announce Summit County Library offers Kanopy, a free video streaming service. We hope you enjoy this service!
What is Kanopy?
Kanopy is an award-winning video streaming service providing access to more than 30,000 independent and documentary films ─ titles of unique social and cultural value from The Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, Media Education Foundation, and thousands of independent filmmakers. It also includes access to chidren's programming through Kanopy Kids. Kanopy partners with public libraries to bring you an ad-free experience that can be enjoyed on your TV, mobile phone, computer or tablet.
How is Kanopy Free for Me?
Just as your library buys books to add to their collection for you to borrow, your library offers a variety of digital resources. Kanopy does not charge you because the public library covers all associated costs, allowing you to watch for free with no ads.
What will I need to use Kanopy?
Kanopy is only available through libraries, so you need to have a valid Summit County Library Card to start watching.
How do I get started?
Getting started is easy! Visit https://summitcountyco.kanopy.com/ and enter your library card number when prompted. Follow the simple instructions to create your Kanopy account using your email address or Facebook/Google login and then start watching.
What else do I need to know?
- All of the titles are available all of the time - no waiting!
- All titles are streamed via the internet - no downloading for offline viewing.
- You may borrow 5 titles per month.
- Titles are automatically returned and you are welcome to borrow a title again if you are not finished.
- Titles are loaned for 3 days (72 hours) once the play button has been selected.
